About
Warrington Road and Ditton Nursery schools are now federated under the title "Aspiring Foundations Federated Nursery Schools"
Nursery School
Nursery sessions run for 3 or 6 hours, depending on your child entitlement to the 30 hour offer. During this time the children experience a range of opportunities. As you arrive with your child you are welcomed to come into nursery and help them find their name card for self registration. The sessions follow a daily routine which include small group time, adult directed and child led activites.
During the sessions the children have the opportunity to explore the many areas of provision within the nursery, both inside and out, with the support of our highly skilled and experienced teachers and early years practitioners. Ongoing observations of all children enable the staff to plan a range of activities, experiences and resources to ensure all children continue to learn in the context of their individual interests and levels of development.
Small group time offers the chance for children to listen to stories, learn new songs and rhymes, share their experiences with each other and learn about phonics and numbers at an age appropriate level.
The sessions are planned to maximise every learning opportunity for the children and it is therefore important that everyone arrives promptly for the start of the session.
We run termly stay and play sessions when we invite you in to stay with your child to share the fun with them, find out how they learn and what you can do to support them at home.
We also hold regular parents meetings when you are invited in to view your child’s individual learning journal and discuss their progress with their key person.
If you would like to help out on a more regular basis please speak to your child’s key person or the head teacher.
Outdoor Play
Outdoor experiences are a vital part of children’s learning and is part of our daily provision.
Children have access to our outdoor area on a daily basis through free flow play. If you feel your child is not well enough to be outside then we would advise you to keep them at home until they are recovered.
We have a range of waterproof jackets, trousers and wellies for wet weather but it is important that children attend nursery in suitable clothing and footwear. Sometimes the children will get wet or muddy so always ensure that they have a change of clothing with them (including underwear). We are always grateful for any suitable clothes or wellies that you child has grown out of to keep in our “spare clothes collection”.
We have excellent outdoor facilities here at Ditton Nursery School, including a mud kitchen, large construction area, water play, climbing equipment and lots of areas for exploring and investigating.
